About Paul

My Background

Author of The Power of Story (releasing March 2026), and former instructor at Vancouver Film School, Vancouver Acting School, and Langara College Film Arts Program, I've worked with new and established writers, high school students, post-secondary graduates, and media event attendees, helping them prepare and pitch to Netflix, Nickelodeon, and EA Sports, as well as to publishers, producers, and festivals across North America.

But before that, I was stuck for years at the top of Alberta gas plant towers as a safety officer. Before that, I was an employment advisor, counselor, pastor, bartender, and boat washer. Oh, and I've got five kids.

In other words, it's never too late!

What I've done:

• Vancouver Film School, Writing for Film, Television & Games

• Graphic novelist, Shaka, King of the Zulu

• Writer-Producer & Story Editor, Reinventing Leonard, The Shipment

• Writing Instructor, Langara Film Arts

• Writing Instructor, Vancouver Film School

• VP of Education, Vancouver Acting School

• Script consultant, Integral Artists

• Judge, The Leo Awards, Zoom Film Festival, BC Student Film Festival

MY MISSION

To Unlock the Natural Storyteller Inside You

Storytelling isn't just something we do. It's who we are.

Human beings are storytelling machines. We can’t help it. We live and breathe stories. Every conversation is a story. What you think of our yourself, what you think of others, what you think of the world, boils down to a bunch of stories.

The big question is: What's yours?

if you’re like most people I work with (including me), you probably wrestling with a handful of questions that are just enough to keep you at arms length from making it happen or sabotage progress.

Is my story worth it?

Will anyone read it?

What's the right way to to tell it?

What if I’ve got more than one story idea?

How do I let people know that I am my book exist?

If that's you, let's talk!
